Description

Manhattan Heat looks straight down a New York avenue into a low, burning sunset, the light flooding the street in deep amber and red as it catches the building facades on either side. Yellow cabs fill the road below, their reflections stretching across the rain-slicked tarmac toward the viewer, the whole scene built almost entirely from orange, crimson and gold.

Painted in mixed media on board as a compact 40 x 60cm original, it packs a striking amount of heat and energy into a small format, the palette barely stepping outside its fiery range.

Part of the New York Collection, it's one of Paul's most concentrated bursts of Manhattan colour — a single avenue turned into a wall of light.
