Description

Midtown Haze offers a quieter read of Manhattan, its usual clamour softened into shadow, stillness and subtle movement. Yellow cabs edge along a rain-wet street flanked by towering grey forms, their lights spreading into long, diffused reflections on the road, while the skyline behind dissolves into a silvery veil of mist.

Paul works in mixed media and metallics on boxed canvas here, at a square 122 x 122cm, using metallic elements to catch the sheen of wet asphalt without overpowering the composition's restraint. Broad palette-knife sweeps and layered, atmospheric greys build the depth of the scene.
