Rainfall Dash

Rainfall Dash captures a city crossing in the middle of a downpour: figures hurry across the road, one sheltering beneath an umbrella, as cars wait at the kerb and tall buildings press in on either side. Reflections streak down the wet tarmac toward the viewer.

Paul Kenton builds the whole scene from quick, nervy ink lines and loose tonal washes, leaving plenty to the imagination and everything alive with motion and weather. It has the immediacy of a moment glimpsed in passing, over almost as soon as it's seen.
