Riverside Light

Riverside Light is a quiet, held breath of a painting — a still stretch of the Thames stretching toward a pale, hazy horizon where the tower of Big Ben stands faint against the morning light. A working barge and crane rest at the near bank, and a line of bare trees punctuates the curving embankment, their forms softened by damp air.

Ink, gouache and charcoal combine to layer atmosphere and texture, from the smoky, reflective water to the crisp dark accents of the mooring and trees. It's a more contemplative register than Kenton's crowded street scenes — London caught in a single, muted moment of early light.
