Description

Sapphire Reflections was painted en plein air during Paul Kenton's 2024 European trip, set on the shore of a quiet mountain lake ringed by deep blue peaks. A small lakeside building glows with warm amber light, its windows and walls picked out in terracotta and gold against the cool mountains behind.

Impasto strokes shape the peaks and sky, while the still water below carries the reflection of the building and its light in soft, broken bands of colour, balancing the cool alpine blues against pockets of warm illumination.

At 41 x 31cm and framed to 60 x 70cm in a black ornate frame, it's a serene, atmospheric study from Paul's Seascapes and Mountainscapes collection.
