Description

Shoreline Shadows takes an expressive, near-abstract approach to the North Devon coast, built from broad diagonal strokes of cliff, shadow and sea. Warm tan and gold rock cuts against cool blue-teal water and sky, with strong bands of shadow giving the composition its dramatic, sun-raked structure.

Painted in gouache on art paper, Paul Kenton lets the brushwork stay visible and energetic — this is a coastline read through light and gesture rather than topographical detail, closer to the feeling of standing on the clifftop than a literal view of it.
