Description

Painted en plein air on the shores of Lake Como in 2024, Silent Reflections captures the quiet meeting point of water, light and mountain. A cluster of lakeside buildings catches the day's last warm colour, their gold and amber tones held in sharp contrast against the cool violet-blue mass of the mountains rising behind.

Paul Kenton works quickly in oil on paper to hold onto a fleeting effect of light, and here the still lake becomes a second painting in itself — the buildings and peaks doubled in soft, unbroken reflection. The result is an intimate, unhurried study, small in scale but rich in atmosphere.
