Start with the Checklist looks straight down into the cockpit of a classic racing car in the moments before the off — dashboard switches lined up in rows, a clipboard checklist resting on the seat, and a bold orange-ringed steering wheel at the centre of it all. Paul Kenton paints the scene in mixed media on bare aluminium, letting the metal ground itself stand in for chrome and polished bodywork rather than painting it.

The palette stays largely silver, grey and black, worked with loose, dragged brushstrokes that suggest reflection and motion, with the orange wheel rim and a few sharp accents cutting through as the only strong colour.
