Description

"Tempo" is Paul Kenton at his most purely abstract — a twelve-by-six-foot field of gestural mark-making, drips and layered brushwork with no fixed subject beyond rhythm and movement itself. Reds, teals, purples and gold thread through sweeping black linework across a pale ground, the whole surface alive with the kind of energetic, all-over motion the title promises.

Worked in mixed media on canvas at a genuinely monumental scale, it's a major statement piece within Kenton's Abstract collection — built for a space that can hold it, and for a viewer happy to let colour and gesture carry the work rather than a recognisable scene.
