Description
Thames Overcast catches London in one of its quieter, greyer moods. Heavy cloud hangs low over the river as a working crane stands against the skyline and dark barges sit still on the water. A tree-lined embankment curves away toward a distant clock tower, with lone figures scattered along the path and reflections breaking up across the surface below.
Paul Kenton draws and washes with loose, expressive ink, building the whole scene from nothing but greys so that river and sky seem to merge into one another. It is a looser, more tonal side of his London work, all atmosphere and restraint.
This is an original watercolour and ink on Indian paper, part of the Artisan Paper Collection, float mounted with a black frame. A unique, one-of-a-kind piece.
