Description
A throng of figures gathers beneath umbrellas in the heart of the city at night, their dark silhouettes massed against a backdrop of glowing theatre marquees. Warm flecks of light pierce the smoky darkness, and faint reflections shimmer across the wet street underfoot.
Paul Kenton combines ink and gouache to balance deep, atmospheric shadow with sudden sparks of colour, the crowd reading as one moving chorus beneath the electric glow of the marquee signs.
This original ink and gouache painting is worked on Indian paper, part of the Artisan Paper Collection and the New York Collection, float mounted in a black frame.
