Original Painting
Under the Chrysler
New York2026
Description
Under the Chrysler looks straight along a Manhattan side street toward the Chrysler Building's distinctive spire, catching the light against a pale blue sky at the far end of the view. Brick and glass facades rise on either side in warm rust and ochre tones, framing the tower like a vanishing point.
Figures with umbrellas move along the wet pavement in the foreground, their forms and the surrounding shopfronts doubled in loose, broken reflections underfoot. Splashes of red and amber punctuate the otherwise cool, daylight palette, giving the street some everyday colour and life.
Painted in mixed media and metallics on board at 40 x 60cm, this original has a calmer, more observational feel than Kenton's storm-lit night scenes - New York on an ordinary damp afternoon.
