Description

Urban Alchemy pushes London toward full abstraction, its skyline dissolving into thick, worked passages of silver, gunmetal grey and white with a single sharp red band burning across the middle distance - the last of a stormy sunset. The Shard's spire is just legible near the centre, a sliver of light-catching form amid the surrounding chaos.

Below the skyline, the Thames is fractured into loose, reflective strokes, colour and texture doing much of the work of describing water and light. It's one of Kenton's most heavily worked and least literal London pieces, closer to gestural abstraction than cityscape.

Painted in mixed media and metallics on boxed canvas at a full 183 x 183cm, it has genuine wall presence - a bold, textural statement piece for collectors drawn to his more abstract work.
