Description

Velocity is a large-scale abstract expressionist work built from hundreds of overlapping, multidirectional brushstrokes in teal, turquoise and pale blue, cut through with crimson red and black. There's no single focal point — the energy is distributed evenly across the canvas, strokes crossing and layering over one another to create a sense of speed and motion that gives the painting its title.

Small triangular flashes of red-orange punctuate the cooler palette, while cream and white highlights catch the eye as they thread through the composition. Mixed media on canvas, the surface carries real texture from the built-up layers of paint.

At twelve feet wide, this is one of Paul Kenton's largest abstract works — an immersive, wall-filling piece for a space that can carry its scale and intensity.
