Description

Westminster Glimpses frames Big Ben through a haze of golden, misty light across the Thames, an ornate riverside lamppost standing dark in the foreground. Reflections shimmer and blur on the water below, softening the boundary between the river and the glowing sky.

Painted in gouache with touches of metallic pigment, the piece uses deep, moody navy as its base, letting shimmering gold highlights carry the light of the city at dusk. The metallic accents catch the eye in a way that shifts with the light in the room — a hallmark of Paul's mixed-media approach to his London riverside scenes.

An original one-off work on paper, 40 x 27cm, from Paul's London Collection.
