Venice
Venice painted for its water: the Grand Canal at sunset, domes coming out of the morning haze, and side canals where a moored boat is the only thing moving.
Paul works Venice mostly in watercolour and ink on Indian paper — a medium that suits a city already half reflection — with a few larger mixed-media originals where the dome of Santa Maria della Salute is built in gold, silver and copper. Piazza San Marco turns up in silvered monochrome ink as often as in full colour.
