Quiet City Lines
Chicago2025
Description
A handsome corner townhouse leans into the frame, its bracketed cornice and shuttered windows caught in soft grey wash, while a line of telegraph poles draws the eye down an empty street. A lone figure dissolves into the distance and bare branches scratch against the pale sky, lending the scene a still, early-morning quiet.
Paul Kenton works the ink with restraint here, letting wet pools and dry, nervous lines describe the architecture without ever tightening into hard detail. Shadows pool in the foreground gutter, grounding the composition in cool tonal calm.
Quiet City Lines is an original ink on Indian paper painting from the International Cityscape Collection, part of Kenton's wider Artisan Paper Collection, float mounted with a black frame and signed by the artist.
