Description

Thames Light is a quiet evening view along the South Bank, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament rising across the river beneath a cool, clouded sky. Two figures walk the wet embankment in the foreground, dwarfed by a pair of ornate Victorian lamp posts whose light spills across the rain-slicked paving.

Bare winter trees frame the left of the composition, their reflections stretching down into the glossy ground alongside the lamplight. Painted in oil on aluminium, the metal surface lends the wet pavement and glowing lamps a soft, believable luminosity that suits the scene's hushed mood.

At 122 x 122cm, this square-format original is one of Kenton's more intimate London views - less about skyline drama, more about atmosphere and quiet detail.
