Cliffs, tidal pools and turquoise water — Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Lee Bay, Morte Point, Putsborough, the Hangman hills, with Exmoor behind them. Nearly all of it was painted outdoors in gouache and watercolour on craft and art paper, much of it during the 365 Project: small, quick, unfussy, and closer to abstraction the closer it gets to the rock.
