Description

Flight Of The Taxis charges down a near-black Manhattan avenue, red cabs blurring past beneath buildings streaked with dripped orange and gold paint. At the vanishing point, a pale, needle-topped tower catches cool light, offering the one calm note in an otherwise fast, energetic composition.

The heavy use of splatter and drip technique gives the painting real motion and urgency, distinct from the more measured, reflective street scenes elsewhere in Paul Kenton's New York collection. Wet pavement below scatters the red and gold into long, streaking reflections.

Built in mixed media and metallics on boxed canvas at 152.5 x 152.5cm, this is a large, high-impact square piece.
