Description

Steps Through Times Square is an original mixed media and metallics painting on boxed canvas by Paul Kenton, part of his New York collection. Rendered as a dense field of colour and texture, blocks of red, orange, blue and yellow stand in for the neon signage of Times Square, with a single figure sheltering under a red umbrella threading through the composition.

Thick impasto and palette-knife strokes build layers of scraped and embedded paint, echoing the constant motion of people beneath towering screens and city glow. Paul worked this piece directly on a studio floor canvas, so marks and footprints from the working process have become part of the finished surface.

This large square-format original is a substantial 190 x 190cm on boxed canvas.
